THE LINE IN THE SAND (English Edition)
von Michael E. Such

The summer of 2011 saw the worst riots to take place in England. The Police were criticised for lack of action and then of being too heavy handed. The morale throughout the whole Police force was at an all-time low, with many officers leaving the profession. Chief Inspector Wright allowed his frustration to show and voiced his opinion during a press interview, for his trouble he received a long suspension from duty.
The current Home secretary, Carol Turner, was also disgusted with the terrible events and decided that something had to be done. After fruitless meetings with all the top Policemen, she approaches CI Wright and together they come up with a radical, bordering on illegal, solution to regain control of the streets.
Rules of engagement were drawn up and it was left to Wright to organize and run the operation. A definite line in the sand was drawn and would not, under any circumstances, be crossed. Until that is, it was seen as a useful tool for personal ambition.
Kate Morris, an investigative reporter for ‘The News’, a newspaper highly regarded for truthful and honest reporting is, unknowingly, incidental at the outset of the Home Secretary’s plan. When the mysterious incidents begin, they quickly become widespread across the country. She starts to investigate; unaware of the dangerous position she would place herself in.
